Monday 9th May 2016 – DO YOU KNOW WHAT?

Yesterday was VE Day – the anniversary of “Victory in Europe” in 1945. And I didn’t see a single posting, on any social website or on the BBC News website – about the anniversary. That surprises me, for we are being bombarded with all kinds of anniversaries of events that killed half a dozen, 100, 3000 people, so why aren’t we being bombarded with the anniversary of an event that killed over 30 million people?

But then again, it doesn’t surprise me really. These other anniversaries are really highlighting events that took place either involving terrorists/freedom-fighters (delete whichever is inapplicable) at the hands of forces of the State (if the victims are of certain ethnic origins or colour) or “innocent” civilians or forces of the State (although how civilians can be “innocent” if they have voted for warmongers totally defeats me, and how the forces of the State can be “innocent” when they have been engaged to kill their victims likewise totally defeats me) at the hands of terrorists/freedom-fighters (delete whichever is inapplicable) (if the perpetrators are of a certain ethnic origin or colour or, as is more-often the case, religion)

It all goes to prove that these people banging all of these drums are just doing nothing more than stirring up an unpleasant and unhealthy agenda of their own – racist, anti-colonialist, religionist, call it what you will. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone would forget just for a moment all about their own little issues and commemorate a day that ended a period that involved the killing of many, many times more people that their favourite little conflict , or the total sum of all of their little conflicts ever did.

And now, about VJ Day …
