… wondering what has happened to “War And Peace” tonight.
The fact is that the creaking system drive in the big desktop computer creaked its last croak this afternoon while I was at dialysis and it has now gone the Way of the West. Consequently I have it all in pieces in the office
The last thing that I wanted to do tonight was to dismantle it and install a new system drive, but here we are. It’s currently going through its loading-up procedure with all of the system files and various programs that it needs, and that is going to be a while. Tomorrow morning it should be finished and I’ll write a fuller account of today’s activities then, so you won’t be missing out.
The fact that the drive failed (after only three years) rather illustrates the fact that while Solid State may well be much quicker, it’s not as reliable as people would like to think
