Monday 28th December 2009 – I dunno why it is …

…. but when I say “a few little jobs” they turn out to be what seems like major engineering projects.

As you might have guessed it rained down in torrents today, 9mm of it in total. So a “work inside” day it was. First job was to rig up some lighting in the stairwell. Now leaving qualified electricians out of the equation, Terry, how long does it take to cut into a wiring circuit, wire in a lightswitch top and bottom and paired to two-way, and add a couple of light sockets? A couple of hours? So why has it taken all day and I’m still not finished? I was quite happily threading three single strands through some conduit and I noticed that it was 13:34. Where did the morning go? And the afternoon went quickly too, much quicker than the work did. Funny thing was that I don’t remember having any difficulty or being stuck on any part of the job. I must have been caught in a timewarp somewhere.

And I also seem to have broken the Ryobi flourescent light and that’s a tragedy. That light has fallen down stairwells, fallen through holes in the floor, had spanners drop on top of it and it’s functioned perfectly. Yet on my way downstairs earlier and I caught it on one of the verticals and that was that. I’ll have to find another one, or work out how I can fix it.

So tomorrow I’ll finish off the light fittings and then do a couple of other things. I’ll see how long I can spin them out for.

And in a change to the weather forecast, sun is now forecast for Friday and Saturday. Well, we’ll see.

In other news, I see that we have had another person setting fire to his shoe in an aeroplane and being overpowered by the passengers and crew. But as I said at the time of the “Richard Reid” incident and I’ll say it again here – there’s much more to all of this than meets the eye. If these guys had really wanted to bring down these aeroplanes they would be setting fire to their shoes inside the toilets where no-one could overpower them. There’s something else going on here and I’m trying to work out what it is. But whatever it is, a serious attempt to blow up an aeroplane it isn’t.

Congratulations Eric, you’ve just been spammed in Chinese with an ad for porn. Clearly you need to enable some form of spam blocking on your blog.

Regarding the aeroplane bombings… How easy would it be for a woman to have a breast implant filled with liquid sodium and then to take a diabetic injection needle and inject air into her breast in the toilet – Kaboom.

Regarding the why don’t they blow themselves up in the toilets, I have the same question – especially since the control lines run really close to the toilets.

The answer is fairly obvious when you look at it. Which gets more publicity and public debate about the terrorist agenda, a live bomber after a failed attempt or a plane going down? Not only that, the subject comes up again with every appeal, parole hearing or debate about where to imprison them.

Well, it’s all Greek to me. And the rear toilets is the place to detonate a bomb – right up against the rear bulkhead and the rush of air pressure out of the hole will tear off the tail. A Japanese Boeing 747 had a fatal crash a few years ago when the rear bulkhead gave way.

And don’t forget, Krys, these people aren’t terrorists, they are freedom fighters. Their land has been invaded by the west and so as far as I am concerned they are perfectly justified in fighting back.

  4. SagePhotoWorld

Nope. They’re not freedom fighters. Their land was not invaded by the west when bin Laden started it all in 2001. They’re just Moslems trying to set up a worldwide Islamic Caliphate via the means specified in the Koran.

Anyone who will kill innocent women and children (especially of their own faith, culture and nationality and call them “martyrs to the cause”) is a terrorist in my book. Or would you prefer the term “cold-blooded killers”? ‘Freedom fighters’ is an excuse commit any atrocity you want in the name of getting getting what YOU want. Haven’t you ever noticed that these ‘freedom fighters’ are only out for them selves when they do get power? Sorry Eric but the ends never justify the means and dressing it up in pretty names doesn’t change the fact that they kill to get what they want. So do the CIA etc and that’s not right either.

I’m not sure how these freedom fighters differ from anyone else. You have the Americans and the British sitting in bunkers pressing butttons that annihilate innocent women and children (and what about innocent men, Krys? Surely not another “token womanism”?) and commit all kinds of atrocities as well. And when they are killed, they are all called “heroes” and “brave soldiers” too. So I’m not sure why you wish on them the moral high ground.

And Bin Laden didn’t start it in 2001, Rhys. The Al Qaida declaration refers to the occupation of certain holy sites by the “infidel” and calls on them to vacate the premises concerned. One of the holy sites being a certain temple in … er … Saudi Arabia. And in case you have forgotten, 15 of the hi-jackers were Saudis, led by a Saudi, trained by a Saudi and financed by a Saudi (who just happened to be a pal of Daddy Bush, incidentally). So with all of the Saudi connection here, the Americans and the British invade … errr … Afghanistan.

    And you’re confused!

I was speaking according to the teachings of the prophet Mohammed (apologies for any mispellings) who specifically said that women, children and the elderly (which I missed out admittedly) were NOT legitimate targets of Jihad, whether your own side or that of your enemy. I left out the elderly as I’ve no recollection of any mentioned in that category who died in the twin towers. But islamic women and children definitely were murdered there by these cold-blooded killers of their own faith.

Also if you look at my last message again I said “the ends never justify the means and dressing it up in pretty names doesn’t change the fact that they kill to get what they want. So do the CIA etc and that’s not right either.” which I think covers your objection in full. Seriously I don’t and never have agreed with what they do. But I also don’t agree with sitting back and letting despots like Pol Pot and Milosevic murder innocents with impunity. The difficulty is knowing when it is right to intervene and when it isn’t.
