But seeing as how the dishwasher was full of stuff that had just been washed, they emptied the dishwasher, and … errr … put all of the clean crockery and cutlery in the sink.

It’s totally disgusting, this kind of behaviour. Never mind the fact that it’s only a minute’s work to wash the plates by hand (which is what I always do), and never mind the fact that it’s only two minutes work to put the stuff away properly, can you imagine the germs and so on that must be lurking in the sink and the waste trap?

I ended up speaking to the management about it, and the result of that discussion was that I can collect a full set of crockery and cutlery and keep it in my room. I’m struggling with my health already, as you know. I really don’t need the germs out of the waste trap to find a place on my diet.

And that wasn’t all of the excitement either in the kitchen. This morning I watched one of my housemates drop his breakfast all over the floor and another one put his dirty breakfast dishes in the dishwasher with all of the clean ones from last night. No wonder that I’m coming down with all of these kinds of illnesses and viruses. If I have to stay here after September I really must find a place of my own.

And so I had my shower last night before going to bed. Not that it cooled me down too much and it was still long after midnight before I finally retired.

Once again I had another reasonable night’s sleep too despite having the window open – woke up sweaty in the middle of it (poor sweaty) and had the usual trip down the corridor. And the bad news is that I’ve started to have the coughing fits when I’m lying horizontal – I didn’t do that before. I was on my travels too, in some kind of grotesque kind of Labour-leadership struggle and that was weird – as is this entire Labour leadership thing entirely, with the Labour NEC struggling to make up rules in a vain effort to do anything to prevent popular leader Jeremy Corbyn winning again.

I managed somehow to sleep through the 07:15 alarm, to be awoken by that of 07:45, and so I wasn’t in the best of humour to start with.

Liz was on the internet and so we had a good chat after breakfast. She’s having fun in her turret by the seaside in Normandy, and quite right too. How envious am I?

At lunchtime today I popped out for my baguette and managed to pay the rental for my room right through until I leave here in mid-September. And it was sweltering outside too – a really hot day.

I had my appointment this afternoon for the hearing issues that I had had a while ago. You remember that I went for a scan the other week and that has proved negative. There are no other serious problems and so they propose to do nothing at all. There’s no point in disturbing all kinds of things for something that will only make a marginal improvement, and I agree whole-heartedly.

And then a funny thing happened. At about 16:45 I had another wave of fatigue overcome me so I lay down “for half an hour”.

And that, dear reader, was that. I remember nothing after that.

0

0

… with a couple of my housemates today.
